Jesse L. Brown: The Navy's First African-American Aviator
Greetings, BRAT Brigade members!
Today, we pay tribute to Jesse L. Brown, a man who defied the odds to become the first African American naval aviator. Born in Mississippi in 1926, Brown faced the challenges of segregation and discrimination but was determined to fly. His perseverance paid off in 1948, when he earned his wings.
Brown's heroism didn’t stop there. During the Korean War, he flew over enemy territory in support of ground troops. His courage and service left a lasting legacy, and his story is one of hope and resilience. His sacrifice reminds us that true heroes break barriers and forge paths for those who come after them.
Fly high, Brat Brigade—Jesse Brown’s story reminds us that anything is possible.
Until next time, carry on smartly!
